I was born in Portugal, but have lived most of my life in Scotland. A degree in mathematics barely distracted me from world building projects, a passion that led me into computer games that explored vector graphic 3D worlds when sprites were the mainstream. This was back in the 80s, that in computer games terms is geological eras ago. Other sorts of science fiction games occupied me and, eventually, for more than ten years, I fell into writing a fantasy book: The Stone Dance of the Chameleon. I have been working on a wide range of projects since then: graphic novels, more fantasy and sci-fi work, a historical novel and much else. In recent years, and with increasing focus, I have been drawn to researching and exploring areas of interest to me, finding connections that make sense of things. Some of this is winding up in my blog hermitabroad.
