You’ll be here for sure… The Iceland Vulcano will not stop you!!! 🙂

Let us hope for some change and improvement in the future (although I doubt of that!!!)

        1. *puts on costume and adopts heroic pose* no, nothing can stop SUPER writer!!! *wide grin*

          1. *wide grin* The only thing missing is the heroic soundtrack… Something mixing Superman, Star Wars and Indiana Jones… It must be a John Williams Soundtrack *great laugh*

Sim…
The main cause for this “decrease in quality” on writing (and talking) portuguese is mainly the cell phones and the net chats… But let us hope that you are right!!! 😉

            1. yes a John Williams soundtrack played on paper and comb! *wide grin*

(Hope that you can understand all that I wrote in portuguese… Consider it a training for the next weekend) 😉

                  Reply

                  1. O objectivo desta mudança é pura e simplesmente estatística!!! (At least, is the current information that I have).

As the number of brazilian people is a “little bit” higher than portuguese people, all over the world, is easier to adopt the original protuguese to the brazilian portuguese…

Por exemplo, a palavra “facto” (“fact”) poderá ser “transformada” em “fato” (that means fact in brazilian portuguese, but means “suit” in european portuguese…). If you went to google translator, it is already in brazilian portuguese, and to search “suit” you must search the word “terno” (that in european portuguese means “lovely”)… It’s a big mess!!!!

                    Reply

                    1. are you sure that the population of Brazil is only a “little bit higher” than of Portuguese speaking communities elsewhere…? There are around 190 million speakers in Brazil… only around 10 million in Portugal – where are the other 180 million… I would imagine that the speaking of Brazilian Portuguese far exceeds all other forms of the language – not that that is a good reason for making the change…

*grin*

I’m sure you’re right… the proposed change is a big mess. I can’t see that the numbers of speakers argument makes any sense – non-Brazilian Portuguese is alive and well. Besides, the moment they would make this change, Brazil and Portugal would immediately begin to diverge again… it has to happen… the experiences, history, landscape, mix of people etc etc are SO different – that their languages are bound to reflect this…
