Biog - progress report, September 2006 I am halfway through writing Chapter 29 of the 3rd volume of the Stone Dance. Once this is completed, three chapters will remain for the first draft to be complete. I am now fairly certain that the 3rd volume is going to be close to 300,000 words... which will make it almost exactly 50% larger than either of the preceding volumes. 700,000 words, then, for the entire Stone Dance. A lot of reading! A lot of writing! Hard for all of us *grin* It amazes me that my little story should have grown up to be such a monster. Unbelievably, this will make it longer than Tolkien's Lord of the Rings (just under 500,000 words) and, even, longer than Tolstoy's War and Peace (around 560,000 words in English translation), but, mercifully, shorter by far than Proust's In Search of Lost Time (1.5 million words)... which is a relief...
